Where remote jobs are actually posted

The large boards are not where most of the supply is, and we can show why.

When we built our crawler, the surprise was not which job board had the most listings. It was that the job boards were not the main source at all.

The numbers from our own index

On one day in September 2026, the four remote aggregator APIs we use returned about 1,150 postings between them. The applicant tracking system boards returned more than 8,000, from a list of company slugs we had verified by hand. Greenhouse alone returned 6,787 from twenty eight companies.

Why the difference is so large

Most employers never post to an aggregator. They publish to their own careers page, which is served by whichever applicant tracking system they use. Those systems publish the same listings through a public endpoint, because that is how the careers page renders.

So the supply is not hidden. It is just distributed across thousands of individual company boards rather than pooled in one place.

What to do with that

The honest caveat

This is more work than searching one site, which is exactly why fewer people do it, which is exactly why it works.
